Carruthers' proposal, a general committee to promote a Captain Cook memorial has bean formed by the Empire League. The Prince of Wales is chairman, Lord Brassey, treasurer; and the Lord Mayor, Lord Rosebery, Lord Cidtner, Mr Asquith, Baron Rothschild, and Mr Balfour are members. Seventeen ex-Governors and the Agents-Generals represent Australasia.
