It straightway attacked the guard savagely with beak ;and claws, and a fierce right betwoen the man and bird followed. TW guard was badly scratched, but finally managed to seize the eagle round the neck. He kent it pris oner till the train stopped at Diio'u. ; where he left the express, taking 'the .eagle with him. Its .wings measured over six feet from tip to tin.
