OPENING OF A RAILWAY.

THE GORE TO WAIKAKA LINE,

Gore, March 3. To-day the Hon J. A. Millar opened the Gore to Waikaka railway in the presence of a large number oi people. From the McNab Junction the distance is 13 miles and the total cost will be about. £70,000, £f which £50,000 was found by- debentures. The line .passes through good- agricultural land, -which"' is closely settled, with dredging all along the route, whilst legnite coal is found and worked more or- less all over the district. ■ : „""- •■'■'■
