[United Pbess Association.] Wanganui, Feb 25. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Press Association was held today. Among those. present were:— - Messrs Knowles (Chairman), Fenwick; Brett, L. Blundell, v Horton, McCullough, Mcßobie, A. A. Lucas, P. Bond, C. E. Kerr, Joyce, W. H. Smith, Weston, ' McCarthy, Bell,. Freeth, Dinwiddie, Selig, Aitken, Carsou, F.W.Joyce, Coombe, Pirani, Furness, C. S. Smith, Gothard, List, "Walker, Page, Copping, and Hobson. ■ The annual report made allusion to the death of the late Mr G. G. Stead, who had been a director for five years ; of Mr H. Feldwick, a very old member of the Association; and of Mr G. Humphries, who for 30 years'had been on the headquarters staff. It was announced that a new agreement between the Association and the Australian Cable Association had been made for five years, and that a supplementary report of Parliament adapted to the case of papers outside the cities was now being. supplied and had met with much approval. Mention was made of the Daylight Extension Bill, and newspapers were warned that any- such measure would be most disastrous to the cable service unless a similar scheme were adopted in Australia. .. . The report referred in complimentary terms to the coming Imperial Press Conference, and mentioned that Messrs Fenwick and Brett, two of the oldest members. of the Association's Board of Directors, were among the six representatives' allowed to New Zealand. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. - .' ' • . Mr L. F. Blundell was re-elected a director, representing the evening papers ; and Mr. S. P. Selig was elected the morning paper representative. llotorua was fixed as the next place of meeting. . ' At a subsequent meeting of directors Mr Fenwick was ;elected Cnairman and Mr Horton deputy-chairman.
