At the Police Court; John Templeton, of Waimatuku, was committed for trial on a charge of stealing nlty sheep : belonging" :to a neighbouring farmer, which he sold at Gore, fifty miles away. The bail was fixed, at £200 Auckland, Feb. 20. At the Supreme Court Charles Frederick Barker, remanded for sentence, affording him an opportunity to disclose^ his confederates in_ uttering of counterfeit sovereigns, said he had no information to give. He was sentenced to one year's imprisonment with hard labour.
