YOUNG WOMAN SHOOTS HERSELF.

(From " The Colonist," Feb. 3.) A tragedy Occurred late on Menday night, a married woman named Minchiri, about 26 years of age, who was residing apart from her husband, at No. 52, Nile-street, shooting herself with a revolver. It appears that Mrs Minchin was living. with her brother, sister and her daughter, and that during the evening all of them, with the exception of th<i brother, had been out driving with Mr Aitcheson Smith, the City Engineer, in tho latter's motor car. Mrs Minchm had been in ill-health for sometime, and had been attended by a doctor. On Monday evening she complained of not feeling well, and the drive was aA-anged at her request, as sho thought it might do her good. The party returned to the house betwee nten and eleven o'clock, when it appears that the two young woman and the child went to. bed, in the same room. Mr Smith took tho car away and came back to the house a few minutes later, and finding all in bed was preparing to leave, when two shots were fired. It was found that Mrs Minchin had shot herself through the head with a revolver, which was picked up on the floor near the bed. Sho expired in a very few minutes after the commission of the act. Dr. Lucas was at onco summoned, and the police were communicated with, they taking chargo of the body, which was removed to the morgue yesterday morning. The deceased young woman had been resident in the city for some time, having been in employment in hotels prior to taking up her abode in Nile-street. It is understood that her parents reside on the Wesfc Coast.
