A BARQUE ASHORE.
A TOTAL LOBS." [Pbess Association— Copybight.] Sydney, Nov. 28. The barque Aleido, from Dunedin to Surprise Island, in ballast, went ashore at the inner reef, Surprise Island, onOcfcober 28th, about 7 p.m. Tee vessel bad safely negotiated the passage into . the lagoon in a strong easterly wind, but groonded wnile tacking to gain anchorage. All efforts to get her off proved unavailing. On October 31 the vessel sprang a leak, and the water gained in spite of efEoris at tbe ' pumps. The crew were commanded to salve the yards and gear. The captain signalled that there wars no available means to get the barque off. The information coming by tbo Empreza, which arrived to-day, is to the etfeot that tue vessel is settled on the reef, and a hurricane might break her up. Sho is partially insured. .
