A DEFAULTING SECRETARY. Invercargill, Nov. 26;
Reginald - Day, the lat'n secretary of the Southland" Hospital and Cbaritable Aid Board, who was arrested on tbe West Coast recently, was charged at the Police Court today on five counts; with having embezzled the funds of the Board. The amount iuvolved is;£Hls 19a lOd; made up of sums received tor rent of the Board's property, dale oi! me Board's land, oh a legacy, and also a sum donated to tbe Board from a deceased person's estate and certain money paid into court for maintenance of illegitimate children in cnarge of the Board. Defalcations extend over 4 or^s years. The hearing occupied all day, and accused was committed for trial.
