Mr Kettle. S.M;, to-day g-iva his ■reserved judgment- in the charges under the Klectoraf Act against Etnil Erictsen, Janies Ikin and Job/1 Endean. IfcappGared that Endean;and Ikin were canvassing fit claims for enrolment. Ikin boirded a vessel and induced Ericksen to. sign a claim for..,enrplment. Ikin was not entitled to attest Kricksan's signature but Endiaii, \pho was standing on tho wharf, saw Ericksen sign, and subsequently appended his signature, as witness. The magistratß. commented,.. upon . the fact that the claim was not read, over to Ericksen, who was not conscious that he was committing a breach of the law in making a declaration that he was a British subject who had Resided in New Zealhnd 12 months.
