: LAST DAY'S PROCEEDINGS. At the Baptist Conference yesterday at the morning session a devotional service was led by the Rev. Guy Tbo/nton. After singing a bynin, and prayer by Mr A. S. Adani3, Roy. F. G. Buckingham, the retirine President, introduced the Rev. T. A. Williams, .the VioePresident, who in the unavoidable absence of JVLr A. F. Carey, tho new President, took the chair. The Treasurer of the Baptist Missionary Society, Mr Hoby, estimated tne income and expenditure for the coining year at JSIS3G. Greetings were received from the President Primitive Methodist Connexion, Rev. Joseph Clark, and Nel-. son W.O.T.LJ. A" committee, consisting of Revs. A. S. Wilson, Guy Thornton, D. Moses, (convener), Simon Mackie, and Iloby, was set up in connection with the Young People's Committee, to consider the state of the Young Men's and Young Wornen'a Bihle Classes throughout the Union, ana to report. . •A reconunendaion from the Coniinittee set up to ponsider the question of delegates' travelling expenses was remitted to the churches. A debate as to extending: the benefits of the annuity and to home miss«orisries then took place; but it was decided to postpone the discussion until next Conference. , of welcome-to Rev. F. B. Meyer, 8. A., ex- President of the 'Baptist Union, a' leader of the Evangelical' Churches,' was ad opted, un the occasion of hig forthcoming visit to this. Dominion. The Rev. A. Dewdney reported that the booklet he had been instructed by the last Assembly to prepare for the use of .the young people was ready for the press, and would be issued forthwith. At the afternoon sesison, theJßev, T. A. Williams, Vice-President, was jn the\chair. The Ifstiinated receipts for Home Mission work were £780, and the estimated expenditure £785. The following allowances were made — \Vaibi-dE2S, Whangarei £40, GrangeRoad £50, Epsom £265, Gumtiel.ds Mission £40,' Gisborne £60, Napier £25,- fieilding £6, Pet9ne £3, Central North Main Trunk lino £75, Ashburton £15, Oxlord £20, Linwood arid Riecarfcoo JJ4O, Kaiapoi -and Eangiora £30, Mornington £GO, Owaka £30, lnyercargill £25; total £655: Students -£50, Young Peoples £aO, Sundries £30 ;■ grand total £805, less 2 J^. per cent £785. •To meet last year' s deficiency of £130, Mr W.H. George, of Wellington, instituted a fund, headed* by Messrs. 3. M. Smeeton and W. 11. George, who each gave £25, Mr A. S. Adains^ £10, and contributions promised by members of the various churches present which completely wiped off the deficit. The Assembly then roseand sang the' doxology. " _ The Rev/ J. Mr. A. S. Adams and the Rev.~A. North spoke appreciatively; of the services of the Rev,. Stanley Jen kin and the body of workers 'in the Nelson Baptist Church. Revs. JS. S Gray and F. G. BucKingham, (past pastors in Nelson,) also spoke. The motion of thanks was parried witb long continued and enthusiastic applause. * The Rev. Stanley replied, ancraclf ridwiedged the- body of capable men and women who had assisted in oarr/ing out the arrangements for the Conference, specially mentioning Miss Wilson. Mr T. Pettit, and Mr Edmonds. The Conference sarmon was preached in the eveoing by the Key. A. S. Wilson, the Rev. F. G. Buckingham, Mr Driver, and Mr Carson taking part in the service.
