GOOD TEMPLARS.

» THE xNAVaLS' ENTERTAINMENT. There was a good attendance at the Keohabites' Hail recently, when the members of the Star of Australasia (Good Templar) Lodge on H.M.S. Encounter gave an excel- ■ lent entertainment. Mr Bond, in briefly introducing the performers, said that ccnsidenag the counter attractions that evening it was pleasing to see so many present. The entertainments given by the inan-of-warsmen J:ad been greatly appreciated by the Nelson peoplo. He then asked Mr Mack to take charge'of tfie programme. The latter was a 'varied one, and included numerous songs (some of a very humorous character) given by Messrs Ohesters, Rhodes, Hock, flowland, Gill, Urry, Ball, Woodcock, Wallace, etc. Ths songs "Getting it by Degrees' : and "Billy Muggins," were given by special request. Mandoline, pianoforte,' and piccolo selections were given by Messrs . Mack, Coles and Miller : a hornpipe was capitally danced by Mr Isbell, and Mr Hunter g<we an exhibition of club and sword swing ing. Mr Mack thanked the Nelson people for the kindness shown to tho' men of H. M.S. Kncounter,~also~ for" their appreciaton of the entertainments giveD. On the motion of Mr Vercoe, seconded by Mr Bond, Captain Fyler was heartily thanked for the kindness he had shown in giving the men leave in order to sapplv so much genuine entertainment for tne public, and to the Star of Australasia Lodge for the assistance tbey had given to the Order during their brief visits to Nelsou. Hearty cheers were given for Captain Fylef, with three more for the Naval Good Templars, and the enjoyable evening closed with the singing of tlie National Anthem. There was a fair attendance at the me«»tiDg of the Loyal Nelson Good Templars Lodge last evening, Bro. T. Vercoe presiding. Th* election of oilicors for the ensuing term resulted as follows: — Chief Templar, Bro. W. McLennan; Vice-Templar, Bro. Mears; Secretary, Bro. Carina (re-elected); Treasurer, Bro, Braddock (re-elected); Financial Secreary, JUro. Preen; Chaplin, Bro. Blackruore ; Marshal, Sister Jacobsen ; Guard, Bro. Bishop; Sentinel, Sister Hutcheson; Bro. T. Vercoe passed to the Past Chief Templar's chair.
