Mr Asquith expressed to the Bishop of Hereford regret that his advanced age prevented the QoVernment recommending him for the . Archbishopric. \ ;. "The Times" says Mr Aaquith'a nomination of Dr: Lang has thrown precedent to the winds. : ' Plenty "of people will insist that the appointment is more courageous - than prud- • ent, but admitting the risk, ''The Times" expects that time will prove them wrong. At any rate, if is certain that the wealth of Pan Anglican sympathy will attend Dr Lang's promotion.
