AMUSEMENTS.
comic" opera. The London Operascppe Company will appear at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday and' Thursday next. Speaking of the entertainment, the "Wanganui Herald" says:— -"The pictures were displayed -on an unusually', large scale, and with clearness which le*ft nothing to be desired. The snbjects, too, possessed the pleasing feature of being entirely new, for which the audience were devoutly grateful.' The series. of scenes fron? the opera 'Mikado,' some of which were beautifully coloured, were simple perfection. ..Solos, duets, choruses, and orchestral effects are presented to the audience, while the stage production is such as As certainly nevei seen in the colony. The animated effect of these was considerably heightened' by the accompanying songs on the phonograph j which were ' rendered in admirable time with the notions of the figures on the screen. Mr Cooper and his capable assistants have succeeded where others have failed, and the result is a genuine ! triumph of cinematograph, musical, and mechanical art." Items of magic, mirth and mystery j will be given by Dr. Rowe, the fai mous American magician, pictured melody by Miss Vera Hamilton, the charming balladist, and Nandinewil? give her" sensational seance. A specia 1 matinee will be given on Thursday afternoon at 3.30.
