Herr Dcrnburg, Director of the Colonies, gpeaking^in the Reichstag, admitted that grave abuses'existed in-the'UainerooDS in connection with the rubber trade. He promised to try and protect the villagers by settling them on agricultural areas away from the caravan routes.
