ANNUAL MEETING OF SUBSCRIBERS. annual meeting of the Suter Art Society was held at the Art Gallery yesterday IJisbop Mules, President, was in the chair, and the attendance of subscribers was much larger than usual. The Hod. Secretary and Treasurer, Miss Nioa Jones, presented the report and statement of accounts, which s howed that the cost of the annual exhibition had been rather more than the receipts from that source, hence it had not been possible |to purchase any. pictures for ad dition to the permanent collection. Secretary and Treasurer, Miss Nina Jones*: Committee, Mesdamas Nicholson and Topliss and Miss Sadd and Miss Brusewitz. The practice for sometime has been that the annual meeting is the only general' meeting of subscribers hold during the year, and Mr P. Bond suggested that general meetings should be held more frequently, and especially tnat one be held shortly before the annual exhibition. Mrs Topliss suggested that the

honorary members should get up an enterainment in aid of the 'Society^ funds. :Mr Nicholson brought up for consideration the advisableness of holding an exhibition of sketches only jus the annual exhibition. . On tho motion of Mr Brusewitz, it was resolved that the Committee have the power to allocate twentyfive per cent of the credit balance of any year to a fund for the purchase of pictures.
