A Wellington telegram states that the following Nelson candidates have passed the senior civil service examination: K. H. Smythe? in two or more subjects, H. Anstioe, H. F. Brook, F. M.« Kempthorne, A. H. Gooeb and T. Richards.
Mr J. P. Cooke who was re-elect-ed treasurer of : the Nelson District of Oddfellows at Wauefiald on Thursday has held the office for thirty eight years, having first been elected on the same day of the year at a meeting held in the old Forest Inn, Wakefield. Mr F. 11. Cooke, who was installed as Grand Master 4 the District, is a son~of Mr J. P. O'oke, so father and son are both boding district office at the same tinio- a noteworthy circumstance.
