COST OF A TANGI.

'The cost of the tan^i nver the late Tamahau Mahupuica was the subject of argument in the Supreme Court to-day. Mahupuku died early in 1904, and the tangi lasted for three or four months. Air Loaaby, storekeeper at Grey town, sued the Public trustee, as administarter of the estate, for .£lll SsGdfor goods sold and delivered in connection with the tangi. Mr James, S.M., gave judgment ni favor of plaintiff for £92 Is 6d, and against that decision the Public Trustee has appealed. The question which is being argued -to day is whether the administrator of an estate of a deceased native is liable for the cost of a tangi, or whether, according to Maori custom, the visitors to the tangi do not bring certain po/tion of the foods required,
