Danneveirke, Feb. 12.
In an interview with a "Daily Press" reporter, the manner of the Uawke's Bay Sawmillers' Association stated that the recent bush fires had practically crippled the saw. •nilling industry in the province. The output had fallen from an average of three and a quarter millions to one and three-quarter millions, and it was absolutely impossible for mills in Hawke's Bay to supply orders on time. Five mills had been practically destroyed by fire, Cohrs, Norsewood, c Parson's Norsewood, Gamraan's Otanga, Fairburn ?nd Company's, Pohui, and Anderson and Sons', Pinpiri, while other mills had suffesed great l^ss in tram lines and bridges. It wa3 possible tha £10,000 would be a low etsimats of the loss over the province.
