Hokitika, August 21. Mr John Hornby, who was the irst sawmillerin thePicton district, lied here last night, aged 95. He iad been engaged in the sawmilling industry here for some years. The wife of* Mr Oharles Upjohn died here suddenly yesterday during her confinement, A medipal attendant and nurse were present, but the collapse was very suddeo^and unexpected. tia-vera, August 21. Obituary— Mr R. S. Thompson, aetat 68. The deceased was wellknown in connection with native affairs on thisjeoas't for'maoy years. Whangape, August 21. A telegram states that Mr'MeMil-" lan, who had been, fishing with his wife and a family party, left the boat and went into the bush, but on returning found the boat adrift. Mr McMillan swam after it, but was drowned. Christchurchj August 21. The body of a woman was .found in the river to-day, s and identified as that of the wife of , John Williams, of Rolleston Avenue, The woman had been strange in her manner since her confinement, and had .been missing since Monday, evening. It is ft case of supposed guiciae. Hamilton, August 21. On Saturday morning Mr W. S. Bigby, a member of the well-known firm of architects here, left his house at Cambridge, and after transacting buisness at Hamilton, disappeared. He h|s not .been 3een for Yieard of since. Much anxiety is felt regarding his safety. He had been complaining of feeling very unwell, but so far as is known .nothing serious was the matter with him. Inquiry has been placed in the hands of the policei Thames, August 21. So far the police have failed to discover any trace df the recent safe robbers at the Waihi mine leading to identity.
