DEPUTATION.

. Wellington, August 21. ! A deputation consisting of Drs Truby King and Collins, and three ( ladies, waited upon Dr Findlay* At-torney-General,, regarding infant life proteotion work. It was suggested that the period in. which registration ' is bound to take tflace should be ( shortened, say te-three days in town { and within a week in the country. The deputation also represented that the police were not *he proper au-' thorities to exercise the surveillance over infant honies, and thai; provision should be made for responsible officers'cancelling the registration of honies conducted in an undesirable ' manner. ] Dr Findlay, in reply, said he was convinced that something would ! have to be done to protect infant life more fully than wa9 the case at pre- ' sent, and the law would have to be ■ altered to provide that a qualified ( nurse should inspect the honies.
