NELSON CRICKET CLUB.

The annual meeting of members of the Nelson Cricket Club was held at Mercer's Rooms on Aug. 16, Mr F. 11. Richmond (the President) in the chair.

The annual report of the Committee briefly reviewed the work of the past season, and stated that although the Club had not been successful in the championship, members had had a most enjoyable season's cricket. Members were urged during the coming season to practice consistently, and a prosperous year was hoped for.

The balance-sheet showed a small credit balance. The report, together with the balance-sheet, was then adopted.

Several new members were then elected.

Officers were elected as follows:— President, Mr F. H. Richmond (reelected) ; Vice-Presidents, Messrs O. Broad, O. Haggitt, H. L. Fowler, and E. Trask (re-elected), S. T. Richmond; Club Captain, :Mr Gordon Richmond ; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, Mr E.,. Livick: Committee, Messrs Richmond, Louisson and Cunningham ; Custodian, Mr S. Cunningham ; delegates to Association,Mr Franklyn and the Secretary.

The following list of highest averages was presented: — Seniors: Batting, T. Louisson, 28.5 runs per innings; E. Livick, 12.1; G. Richmond, 12.1. Bowling, G. Richmond, 21 wickets at 7.3 runs per wicket; T. Louisson, 18 wickes at 9.4 runs per wicket. Junior: Batting, A. Miller 13.7 runs per innings. Bowling, A. Cooke, 7 runs per wicket.

The subscription was fixed at £1, and it was decided to enter a team for the Senior Championship, It was also resolved to open the season with a match against Richmond, at Richmond, on the third Saturday in September, if arrangements can be made. The President's trophies were then presented as follows :— -Senior batting, T. Louisson; Junior batting, A. Miller. Mr Richmond again offered trophies for the best Senior batting and bowling averages, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. A vote of thanks to the Chairman then terminated the meeting. NELSON CRICKET ASSOCIATION. The annual general meeting of the Nelson,. Cricket Association was held at the Commercial Hotel on Saturday evening. Present: Mr H. Baigent (President), in the chair.Mesars Hall (Brightwater), Hoult (Wakefield), Richmond, Franklyn, Livick (Nelson), Bensemann, Smith (Kamura), Hesseltine (Athletic), Kinzett (United), Norgate (Stoke), and the Hon. Secretary (Mr E. R. Neale). Apologies were read from other members unable to attend owing to illness. The Secretary's report and balance sheet gwere read and adopted, the President complimenting the Secretary on his able report. The balance sheet showed a considerable debit balance, owing to the very heavy expenditure for mattings, etc., last season. It is confidentally expected that the whole of the debt will be wiped off this season.

The election of officers resulted as follows: — Patron, Mr John Graham (re-elected); President, Mr Henry Baigent (re-elected); Vice-Presi-dents, Dr. W. R. Pearless, Messrs H. L. Fowler, F. H. Richmond, and P. Topliss (re-elected), and Messrs JV. Wilkens, W. S. Hampson, W. Lock. Drs. W. H« Pearless and R. J. Orford (newly-elected); Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, Mr E. R. Neale (re-elected) ; Hon. Auditor, Mr W. D. Chisholm (re-elected); Delegate to N.Z.C.C., Mr S. W. Thornton (re-elected).

A suggestion to play I separate rounds in country and town, the winners of each to play off, was not received favorably, and was left over till next jSaturday evening, by which time all entries for Cup competitions must be in the hands of the Secretary.

It was resolved, on the motion of the Secretary, that the Christen urcb. method of counting^ championship points be adopted, viz.: Allot "two half-days or one whole day for a mach. If; H finished within allotted time, winnors to count throe points. If unfinished, f,[ the winners .Ton, the first innings to" count one point.

The club secretaries * were instructed to ; supply ': tho Association with lists of names of all unpaid members.

Resolved that a Senior representative^team j visit Motueka on 9th November, *, if arrangements can be made. - . '■■

It was decided to make' a sma charge to Oup matches this season.

Jnnior subscription was raised to 15s, senior to remain as at present.
