The election of officers resulted as follows : —

President: Mr P. G. Gibbs, M.A. Vice-Presidents: Mr James Hark ness, B.A. (Reefton); Mr Thomas A. Harris, M.A. (Motueka). Secretary and Treasurer: Mr F. V. Knapp. Committee: Messrs Co wles, Edridge, For<?yth, Peait, White, Wilmot, and Worley.

It was decided to increase the subscription sufficiently to cover the extra cost of suppyiug the "Journal of Education" — the official organ— to every member. The amount for present members was fixed at 7s to cover the cost of the journal from January^ and Gs per year for new members.

Tho Institute resolved to ask the Education Board to invite Mr Gray, the Principal of the Wellington Training College, to visit Nelson in October for the purpose of delivering lectures to teachers.

It was also agreed to request the Board to make arrangements with the Agricultural Department to supply seeds and manures to schools for experimental work.

As the country members had to leave to catch the outgoing train, it

was decided to hold anoth9r_ meeting in the course of a few weeks, when a number of matters of importance will bo discussed.
