HOUSE.

The House met at 2.30 p.m. The second reading of the Otaki and Porirua Empowering Bill was postponed until Friday. Two ' days' leave of absence was granted to Mr Major, on urgent publio business. It was resolved on the motion of the Premier that after to-morrow Government business shall take precedence on Wednesdays. The Land and Income Tax Assessment Bill received its second reading, and it wa3. referred to the Public Accounts Committee.

For the remainder of the afternoon the House sat in committee for the further consideration of the Estimates until 5.30 p.m. The House resumed at 7.30 p.m. In Committee of Supply the Marine Harbours Department, total vote £73,881, and Department of Labour £19,420, passed unaltered.
