NELSON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of members of the old HorticulturalSociety was held in the Chamber of Commerce Hall last evening. The Chairman said that owing to lack of interest and the' fact that losses had been incurred at all the later shows of the Society, it] had been agreed that the Society should cease operations until more interest was displayed. There was no formal resolution to that effect, because they had not succeeded*in obtaining a quorum at a meeting. The money in hand had been earning interest, and there were other assets such as show cases, tables, etc., and the present meeting had been called to consider handing these over to a new Society. Mr S. Bolton moved that Fthia meeting of old members of the Nelson Horticultural Society resolves that in the event of tho Society being'revived the whole of the assets belonging to the old Society, including bank balance, be handed to the Committee of such revived Society on such Committee being duly elected. Mr ijurford seconded the 'motion, which was carried unanimously. Mr Holler then moved that a meeting of all interested in horticulture be called by advertisement for next Wednesday evening, with a view of reviving the old Horticultural Society. Mr Merrick seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. * Mr Burford reported that the prosent balance in the Post Office Savings Bank is £32 2s 9d. The other assets consisted of flower boxes, etc., which however, would require repairing. The meeting then ended.
