A QUESTION OF RAILWAY ROUTE.

Invercargill, August 16. A large and enthusiastic meeting was held this evening, when railway communication between Roxburg and the Seaboard was fully discussed. The Dunedin agitation for a larger vote for the Lawrence-Roxburgh line was adversely criticised both as regards cost and probable revenue. It was contended more profitable traffic could be ensured either by the Waipahi-Heriot route, or the extension of the Gore-Wai isaka line. A resolution was carried unanimously amidst applause, asking the Goverunient to appoint a Commission of experts to inspect and report as to most suitable and cheapest route to connect Roxburg with the main railway line.
