RUSSO-JAPANESE CONVENTION.

It maintains tho status quo of tbe respective territories with the principle of equal opportnnity ; recognises the independence and territorial integrity of Cbina and equal opportunity as regards commerce and industry for all nations in China. Both countries are pl»dg>d to uphold the maintenance of the status quo in China and the principle of equality with all peaceable means at their disposal.
