THE ESTIMATES.

ITEMS OF LOCAL' INTEREST.

The following items of local interest appear on the Estimates for this year: —

Wellington-Motueka Mail Service, £600.

Nelson Inland mails, £3642 (last year £2250 expended).

Head

Maintenance Jackson's Light, £65 (same as last year). Waitapu leading light, £50 (same as last year).

- Removal of bank, Waitapu harbor, £ for £50 (re-voted). Reconstruction French Pass beacon, £100.

Beacons West Wanganui,£4o (same as last year). Motueka wharf, £300 (re-voted).

Compensation for land deviation, Brooklyn Valley road, £71. O.C.D. Nelson Volunteer District, salary^(inoluding £50 house allowance), increased from £240 to £325.

Landing Waiter, Customs' Department, Nelson, salary from £270 to £280.

" Deputy Registrar of Deeds and Deputy Commisisoner of Stamps, salary increased from £300 to £320; cadet from £100 to £110. Bailiff and Drier Supreme Court,salary increased from £140 to £150. The salary of the Matron of the Nelson Mental Hospital is increased from £95 to £100.

Provision is also made for a District Quartermaster General Nelson Volunteer District at £50 a year, and a clerk at -€158. . A copy jof ,the Estimates may be seen at this office by anyone interested.
