. Dargaville, June 18. Nothing is known here with reference to the reported wreck of the barque Woollahra, and it is believed to b 8 a canard. Auckland, June 18. The report of the barque Woollahra, being ashore on the West Coast came through Mr George Niccol, shipowner, who received his information by telegram from the master of one of the small steamers running in the locality. The Marine Department says the information in the report is incorrect, and that evidently some blunder was made in the first message. Blenheim, TJune 18. Ah inquest.w^s held yeßterday on the death of a prisoner named Oharleg Hamilton Moire, who was drowned in'U.the Awatere River on Saturday. The evidence showed that four prisoners were amusing themselves on a floating log in the stream. The deceased, held ,the tether of the !o?, which lurched, and pulled him into the water. The other prisoners tried to rescue him, but failed. The body was taken out ten minutes later, life being extinct; A verdict of accidental drowriiopj with no blame attachable to^anyone was returned. The jury commended the deceased's fellow prisoners for their attempts at rescue.
