CLAIM FOE COMPENSATION.
Invercargill, June 17. To-day, at the Magistrate's Court, Albert 'Stevens claimed £175 compensation from Paul Brown. It appeared that Brown entered into fin agreement with Stevens and another man to turn out flax at Brown's mill, they to i:ay running expenses of the mill, and to receive £20 per ton for all flax turned out. Stevens sustained injuries to one hand whilst sawing firewood for the mill. Brown contended Stevens was a contractor and not an employee* hence he was not responsible , and was not liable" for compensation.
