London, June 10. The barque Serena, bound from Melbourne to Queeostown, during a gale on March 18 had four of her crew swept overboard and drowned. The captain, at the risk of his own life, was chiefly instrumental in rescuing two other men, who were holding on a rope in icy water at the ship's side. The Hetvolk Congress has petitioned the Government to abolish all municipalities except those of Johannesburg and Pretoria, and to reestablish old town regulations. Three French motors, one Dutch, and one Italian have started on a race from Pekin to Paris. The King and Queen of Denmark lunoned at the Guildhall.and had an enthusiastic reception. The streets were gaily decorated. At cricket, Hampshire beat Kent by five wickets. Worcester beat Lancashire by 10 wicKets. In the match South Africans v. Northampton R. O.
