NELSON RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual shooting meeting of tho Nelson Rifle Association took place ay the Brightwater range on New Year's Day, when between forty and fifty competitors took part in the various matches. The weather conditions were as near perfect as possible, although a tricky wind towards the close of the day kept tho scores down at the long ranges. The shooting at the 200 yards and 500 yards ranges was exceptionally good, as the scores given below will show. Lieut. Irvine, the present N.Z. champion, put up some splendid performances, winning the 2 0 yards and 500 yards, service match. 500 yds, and being the highest total in the Volunteer match and in the aggregate which carries with it the honor of champion shot of the Nelson Rifle Association. Shooting was commenced at eight o'clock in the morning and concluded at 7.30 p. m. , the whole of the matches being completed in one day. The result of the teams match is not yet available, but it is expected tbat this will be won by the Nelson Defence Rifle Club.
