Cbristchurch, September 18. ■ Mr Hughie, editor of the Christchurch "Truth," is being prosecuted to-day by Mr Macpherson, Inspectorof Dairies. "Truth" published an article from its special reporter, in which the alleged shocking state of certain dairies were described, Mr Macphergqn, with a, fioTr W jjiocooO agoiuDt <3c*»»-j-«*xqvi fnr breeches of the Act, went to Hughie and asked the name of the reporter and the names of the dairies referred to. Mr Hughie refused, and asked that he be suppiled with the requests in writing. Contending that the refusal was an offence under the Act, Mr Macpheraon took proceedings. Later. After lengthy argument-the Magistrate said the only person liable to prosecution for refusing to give information was the person connected with the dairy. He dismissed the case. The Crown Prosecutor said the case would be taken to a higher Court.
