THE CHRISTCHURCH EXHIBITION.

Some time ago the Nelson Chamber of Commerce moved in the direction of securing the representation of Nelson at the International Exhibition to be held at Christchurch, but the City Council indicated its intention of taking action, and to avoid clashing nothing further was done by the Chamber of Commerce, and the City Council has presented no report on the subject. The time in which application for space must be. made is drawing to a close, so that whatever is done should be done promptly. The City Council should certainly take steps to let visitors to the Exhibition know something of Nelson, its climate, the amount of sunshine it enjoys, and its scenic beauties, while in the interests of progress there should be a display indicating the mineral wealth of the district, its richness in timber as well as coal, and there should be exhibits showing its productions, such as cereals and hops, and its manufactures, such as leather, biscuits, boots, etc. We understand that the K preserves, etc. , are 'to be shown to advantage. The oldest settlement in the Island should be adequately represented at the Exhibition, and it is incumbent on the people to see that this is done. We trust that the City Council will take definite action- at the next meeting.
