NELSON CRICKET ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL GENEKAL MEETING The annual meeting was held a the Commercial Hotel on Saturda: (Aug. 26th), when the following dele gates were present: — Messrs Broac (College), Clayden and Bird (Athle tic), Stiles and Kinzett (United), Franklyn and C. Neale (Nelson). Bray and Andrews (Kamura), l Hal (Brightwater), Norgate (Stoke), Richards (St. John's), and the Joim Secretaries (Messrs Richmond anc Louisson). Mr H. Baigent, President of th< Association, occupied the chair. Previous minutes having been reac and confirmed, Mr Richmond reac the report for the past season. Ii pointed out that the season's wort was on the whole disappointing, little improvement having beer shown. This was partly due to un punctality at the matches, and postponement and alterations in the fix tures. This misled the public anc no interest was displayed. Weal teams were sent away to represoni the Association in rep. matches, anc defeats were met with at Blenhein and Motueka. A first innings wir was secured in a match at Picton, The junior team were successful ii matches against Marlborougb. anc Motueka. The College Club was con gratulated on securing both Senio: and Junior Championships, th( seniors wresting the honor from the Athletic Club, after an unbeatet record of four years. Motueka As sociation affiliated during the season, The whole of the subscriptions hac been paid with the exception oJ the Brightwater Club. Senioi cricket was considered in a fairlj good condition, and the City Council had generously helped in tne mattei of soil. In conclusion, clubs wen urged to Jwork together, improve v punctuality, and abide by the rules more closely. The balance sheet showed that £11 12s had been received from subscriptions; revenue from matches, £1 9s, which, with a balance of £12 Os 7d from last year brought the receipts to £27 Is 7d. The expenses for the ! year included £4 19s 6d for ground attendance, and £A 4s back dues tc the New. Zealand Cricket Council. A credit balance remained of £11 4s Bd. In answer to a question, the Brightwater representative said he considered all dues by his Club had been paid. Resolved to refer the question to the former secretary. 2 After comments on the favorable state of the funds the report and balance sheet were passed. Resolved that as the By-law RevisSon Committee had not met, to hold the revision of the By-laws, etc., over for a fortnight. In answer to a question, the Secretary said the annual meeting had been called earlier in accordance with a resolution of the Executive Committee. Officers for tbe ensuing season were elected as follows :— Patron : Mr John Graham, M.H.R. President: His Worship the Mayor, Mr Baigent, (applause). Vice-Presidents : Hon. F. Trask, M.L.C. ; Dr Pearless, Messrs P Toplisa, S. Kirkpatrick, F. H. Richmond, and H. L. Fowler (re-elected). The President, in thanking the delegates for re-election, bad hoped to make way for someone else, but as it was again tbe desire he would again act. (Applause). He handed the Treasurer a. donation to the funds.

Richmond (re-elected). . ] Executive Committee: Messrs Bird J (Athletic), Franklin (Nelson), Stiles (United), Broad (College), < Bray (Kamura), Hall (Brightwater), Richards ' (St. John's), Norgate (Stoke). Auditor: Mr W. Chisholm. Delegate New Zealand Cricket Council: Haggitt. Resolved that the By-laws made by the Executive Committee during \ last season be referred to the Revision Committee. In view of a contemplated tour at Christmas, the Wanganui and Taranaki Associations expressed a willingness to meet the Nelson Association's representatives. Resolved that entries for Championship matches close on Saturday, September 9th Mr Broad said the Club was pleased, but surprised, at coming out on top, and attributed a good deal of their success to the excellence of their fielding, in fact they had never had a better fielding team. Messrs Clay den (Athletic) and Stiles (United) also congratulated the College Club on behalf of their respective Clubs. Before dispersing the health of the President'was drunk, and wishes for a successful season expressed. Votes of thanks were accorded Messrs Richmond and Louisson for secretarial work during last season, the latter being about to leave Nelson. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the meeting. PRESENTATION OF CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHIES. At the conclusion of the annual meeting the President hande.d the banner and Junior cup to Mr Broad, of the Coll ege Club, that Club having been sucessful in securing both Senior and Junior Championships, and in doing so congratulated the College Club on the proud positions it had occupied in both Senior and Junior classes. (Applause).
