UPPER TADMOR.

September 1. Upper Tadmor was" the scene of j great festivity on Wednesday last, ( when all the parents (with the ex- ( cepfcion of two families) and chil- 1 r lren, met together, to wish the , .chool teacher* Mias Turner, good- ] bye. The scihooi had been prettily decorated, and one hundred in- ( vitations issued. The Children had ( a bountifully spread tea at i odlock, the tabels were a picture, so many daintiep, it would be impossible to i enumerate them; but when, one knows that the cooking was all done by the ladies of the Upper Tadmor, it is needless to say more, their fame lin that line being well known. After tea the happy little ones played i games and ran races for prizes, etc. The tables were subse<}ue'ntly re-laid, and almost groaned under thei* lodd of good things, and these wore done ample justice to by the adult visitors. After tea the room was cleared for a concert, whichlwae opened by the Chairman of the Board, who spoke of ihe redsdn for the gathering, and while regretting the caiis^ which brought them together Congratulated the ladies upon the success that attended their efforts, and joined them, in the name of the Board, in heartily regretting Miss Turner's departure., and wishing her "God speed." He euloeised Miss Turnef, both as teacher and friend, and thanked her in the name of all for her kindness to the children, and her strict attention to hef duties. Ricketts, in a few happy, weil-chosen words, introduced Alice 1 Christian, who read an address to Miss Turner from the children, and ' a little tot, Mabel Harford, presented j Miss Turner with a ladies' companion as a slight token of the love 1 and respect in which she was held by her pupils. Mrs Charles Ricketts, \ on behalf of the parents and Miss Tur- [ ner's Upper Tadmor friends, pre--1 sented her with a handsome silver- ' mounted dressing case, begging her ' to accept it as a memento of her stay ■ in the Upper Tadmor and of the kind ' feeling in which she was held there. 1 Misa Turner warmly thanked one 1 and all for their kindness, both then ' and in the past, and begged them to 1 remember she was always pleased to ' welcome Tadmor friends to her home 3 at Woodstock. l Three cheers were given for Miss * Turner, with musical honors, and I the concert was resumed. } Song, Mr D. Then once more the » hospitable ladies appeared laden » with ham sandwiches, cakes and > pastry, with delicious tea and coffee. After supper, Mr Fred Turner, on ' behalf of his sister, thanked the ladies and children, and called foi 1 three hearty cheers for all her kind Tadmor friends. Mr Jim Anglesej proposed a vote of thanks and cheers for those ladies who had b6en sc indefatigable in providing such a de r lightful social afternoon and even - ing's entertainment, and who had sc - generously catered for them. Ne^d a less to say, these were given witt L three times three. All haste waf - then made to clear the room for th< i dance, which was kept up till the i small hours, cribbage being indulged , in by the non-dancers, and suppei ' was again forthcoming with tea anc E coffee at 12 o'clock.
