WAKEFIELD.

BUSINESS 'ENTERPRISE. (Fbom Odb Own Cobbespondents.) Wakefield as a residential district and a pleasure resort has enjoyed a reputation second to none in the province, but; without any impairment of its attractiveness in chese respects it is developing into a business centre of no mean proportions. | From time to time I have noted the improvements that have been 1 effected in the main street, and the important addition made by Messrs , E. McPherson and Co., Limited, has been briefly noted. The new building in which the Company will transact business is conveniently and centrally situated right opposite the Railway Station and Post Office, ad--1 joining Mr John McPherson's old established business premises. The head of the business is Mr Ernest McPherson, well known amongst us as an energetic, enterprising, and 1 successful man of business. The business to be carried on covers a ' wide range, the departments including agricultural implements and machinery, poultry appliances, household furniture, etc. The Company hold several good agencies, being ' sole representatives of the Hornsby Akroyd Co., whose oil engines, 1 binders, and harvesting implements 1 are well known, and the well known old established firm of Reid and ; Gray, Dunedin, are also represented by Messrs McPherson and Co. The Company are formally opening their new buildings on Wednesday afternoon next, an open invitation being given to all who care to attend, afternoon tea being provided for the occasion.
