FARMERS' UNION.

NELSON PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE. . A special meeting of the above was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, RichJmond, on Friday, February 28th. , Delegates present Messrs R. H. Turner (Presidents, W. D. Earkness (Secretary), G. E. Chisnall (VicePresident), 0. J. Ruffel, P. Higgins, I. Tunnicliffe, F. W. Smith, and G. S. Haycock. The 'meeting was called to consider a letter from the Secretary of the Otago branch of the! N.Z.F.U, Mutual Fire Insurance j Association, containing a suggestion for the Nelson Branch to affiliate with the Otago Association. After all the correspondence and information available in reference to this important matter had been well discussed, it was unanimously resolved to fall in with the suggestion as it was contended that by being affiliated with an Association with such assured success as the Otago Association seems likely to attain, not only will amalgamation be beneficial from a financial point of view, but will hasten the completion of the undertaking. A letter was also received from the Secretary of the Nelson Employers' Association inviting the Executive to a conference, in conjunction with the Waimea County Council. Resolved that Messrs E. N. Turner, W. D. Harknesa, C. J. Ruffel, F. W. Smith, G. S. Haycock and any other members of the Executive who can make it convenient, meet the Employers' Associa- 1 tion and the Waimea County Council. The question of appointing one j or more representatives to give evidence before the Land Tenure Commission was also considered, and resulted in the following gentlemen being chosen : Messrs Turner, Pattie, Higgins and Wix. The meeting then adjourned.
