NELSON HOSPITAL & CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held in the Committee Room at the Municipal Building last evening. Present — Messrs J. Piper (chairman), J. M. Croucher, P. Best, G. Macmahon, H. Everett, F. W. Fairey, and Fathers. Accounts were passed for payment, on Hospital account, £248 15s 9d ; on Charitable Aid account, £176 4s 6d. The credit balance at the bank was stated to be £400 13s 6d, subject to the payments of the day. : Resolved, that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded Mrs Light for her services which resulted in a useful organ being procured for the Old People's Home, the same being a source of great pleasure to the inmates. Resolved, that the City Council be thanked for granting the Board free use of a meeting room. An application from a Golden Bay I resident for reduced scale of fees was deferred for enquiries. Mr J. D. Beuke, after 16 years' service on the Board, in severing his connection, thanked the members for the good feeling shown towards himself during that peri&d. Several speakers expressed their sense of Mr Beuke's good services, and a resolution to that effect was placed on the minutes. The Buller Board refusing to acknowledge any responsibility in respect of a destitute family from Denniston, the husband being in the Asykum, it was resolved that the Buller Board be notified that in the event of that Board refusing to meet 3ijch demand as may be made" upon it with respect to these persons, legal proceedings would, be taken to recover the amount.
