FEDERAL HOCKEY CLUB.

The annual meeting of this Ulub was' held at the Institute on April 16th, Mr H. Nalder in the chair. ! Mr W. A. Dee, Hon. Secretary, , presented a short report, and the balance sheet. „ . „ + The report stated that tne past season must be regarded as very satisfactory, though the Club did not win the final test match. was a matter for congratulation. It was hoped that during fche season the Club would be able to pay a visit to either Christchurch or Wellington, and meet one or more clubs. The balance sheet showed a very small debit balance, which would be nonexistent if all members paid their subscriptions. (These subscriptions were paid during the evening, the funds thus being placed in credit.) The season was brought to a close by lan enjoyable reunion of members of the two local clubs. The report and balance sheet were adopted, the Chairman supplementing the report by a few remarks upon the constitution of the team, he considering that in view of the bad luck experienced through illness and accident the team had done remarkably well, the victory over Addington being something to be specially proud of. " • The following new members were elected: Messrs Rogers, G. Knapp, S. Y. Wearing, T. Louisson, E. Braddock, D. Thompson, and M.Jackson. The election of officers resulted as follows :— Patron : Mr J. Graham, M.H.R. President : Mr H. Baigent (Mayor). Vice-Presidents : Dean Mahoney, Messrs E. Finney and W. G. Murray. Hon. Captain Mr R, W. Stiles. Hon. Secretary and Treasurer: Mr W. A. Dee. Match and Management Committee: Messrs G. Hogg, F. Brown, A. Dee, H. Nalder, and G. Wimsett. Delegates to Association : Messrs Brown and Hogg. The Secretary reported that he had received an invitation from the Addington Olub for a team to visit Christchurch. After some discussion it was resolved that consideration of the matter of sending away a team be postponed till later in the season. Resolved that in the event of a player breaking more than'one stick at practice or cup matches during the. season that player be allowed the, sum of ten shillingsResolved that the delegates < bring before the Association the desirablenesss of providing proper goal-posts and nets. Resolved that playing members be required to provide themselves with jerseys showing the club colors, red and white. Resolved to open the season tomorrow, the Nelson Club and other hockej players to be invited to take part. After a general conversation on matters pertaining to the game, the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
