Miss Ellon Gallagher was appointed pnpil teacher at the Westporfc District High- School. I Miss F. McCarthy was approved of as teacher of the Baton household school. , Miss Cecilia May Arnold was approved of as teacher of the Moutere Bluffs household school. The Department wrote in reply to the Board's deputation that the Government would not allow the transfer of the sums named from the Building to the Maintenance Account. • Mr Maginnity again explained the action taken by the deputation, and read a letter from Mr Colvin, M.H.R., who had been working in the interests of the j Board since the return of the deputation ! to Wellington. On Mr Maginnity's motion it was resolred that after the end of the month the Board keep only one account at the Bank. The Dovedale School Committee asked for a second teacher, the attendance having qualified the school for a pupil teacher according to the Board's bylaws.—lt was resolved that the matter stand over in view of the coming into operation of the new scale of salaries under the Teachers' Salaries' Act. Examination centres were arranged for, for scholarships, etc -At Motueka, Mr Malcolm, supervisor ; at Eeefton, the Rev H. York; lakaka, Mr S. jPittall; Westport, Inspector to arrange for a supervisor. Mr Lock proposed that a girl, a day too old for the scholarship examination, be admitted to examination, bat the motion was negatived after considerable discussion. Two girls applied to sit at the pupil teachers' examination (first year).-Per-mission was granted on payment of a t fee of ss.
