THE ALBIONS WIN BOTH CUPSi BENtOR CUP; The rnraor that the Rivals intended io get out their " boss " team to meet the Albion club in this important fixture, again proved to have no foundation it it and only a seeond-clsas combination was turned into the field. The Albion team on the contrary were all out, and as they have turned out to a man almost in every engagement, it shows that they, have either a good system dI getting their men, together, or the playfers themselves are enthusiastic in the matter ; perhaps both. However it is sufficient ta know that they have left no stone unturned to come off champion men even if they did not make Ihe best of starts, audio their credit they have succeeded, and by their indomitable perseverance they have an* nexed the chief honors of the Engby Union. On Saturday the Rivals with their weak team, made a determined , resistance, anfl set tip a better defence than was anticipated,' and through which their opponents penetra* ted with great difficulty only. The game was a dismal exhibition from a spectator's view, the passing being poor, and other work being on a similar par, consequently it merits little description. The Albions had heaps of opportunities; to score, but .the passing, was staytedj and finished in sucH ?. wild and eratic manner that the chances were thrown away by breaches of the rules, mostly " passed forward," If anything the back work of the Eival team was the best, being cleaner and better timed, but they suffered in respect to combination. In tha pack scrums they were also beaten, but in the lose rushes quite held their own against their opponents. The Rivals kicking was the better of the two, Holbrook in particular showing fine Judgment. The only score made in the first spell was a penalty god! splendidly kioked by Millar from a difficult atigle, being the outcome of Baigeni inser ; faring with ihe ball whilst on the grociidj Previous to this the Albions made efforts to coorp, Millar making four attemptß on bis own, bat all were tafely staved off. Th> Eivals were also forced down fire times through long ftqd unfruitful kicks. In tbj first spell', abort ten minutea from ilia finish the Rivals were given a free kick. The game was here stopped on account of the enoroaohment of speotatore. While tha ground was beiog rid of these, McKinley tsok the kiok at goal and amidst an nproarloub obeer kicked a really fine goal. Cut the referee had not re-stirted the game, and consequently the score was disallowed. In the second kiok MoEinley, only ma* naged to propel the ball about two yards. It was a great piece of hard luck for the Rivals, bat it was their own fault for startthe game without the sanction of the ieferee. The lime waß actually up before the Albions had succeeded in crossing the Rivali line, and it looked as if their " bonsor 1 ' team was to score a win by s penalty goal only, when I ogham who aa in previous matches had to make all his own play* lushed a ball that was mused by the fiivals full back, and amidst) great cheering touched it dead between the pOBtB. Millar kicked an easyjgoali and the game ended in a victory for the Albionß by 8 points to ni!. Those of the winners who were conspicuous were : Thompson, Millar, Levien (baokß), tbe others had very little to do, with the exception of Haase at full back who kioked well— and Bright, Glover, Tibbie, Bosch and Krahagen (forwards). For the losera the whole team played Etubbornly and therefore merit equal praise, Eolbrook, bpear acd J. RioharJs were perhaps the pick of the backa, and of the forwards McKinley, Batohelor (2), Baigent and Atkineon were first for choice. Mr Levien refereed.
