ANNUAL MEETING OF THE N.Z. BRANCH OF THE BRITISH MEDICAL ASSOCIATION.
On Tuesday next, the first annual meeting of the N.Z. Branch of the British Medical Association will be opened in the Museum. Hitherto the medical men of New Zealand have been associated together under the form of the New Zealand Medical Association, but last year it was decided to convert the Asso--1 ciation into a branch of the British Medical Association, thus following the lead of all other parts of the British dominions, and becoming connected with a society of medical men numbering some twenty thousand. The meeting, which commences on Tuesday, will be attended by a considerable number of the leading men in medical science throughout New Zealand,, some of whom, including Dr Cleghorn, the President elect, have already arrived in Nelson. Dr Irving is the retiring President, and Dr Cleghorn, of Blenheim, and President of the Nelson section of the Association, will be formally placed in the President's chair at the outset of the proceedings. A considerable amount of business affecting members of the Association in various ways, requires to be transacted, and a number of papers on various technical subjects will be given, followed by discussion thereon. The whole of the time, will not, however, be devoted to business proceedings, being varied by excursions into the Waimeas and to Cable Bay, and a dinner to members will be given by the President elect. It is to be hoped that our visitors will be favored with a sample of real Nelson weather for their own pleasure, and the reputation of the place as a sana- ( torium. <
