London, March 8. The British Navy Estimates have been submitted to the Houbb of Oommoue. Tbe total amount required for the year is £21,838,900. The number of men will be increased by 6,300 : and the sum of £7,000,000 will be exponded on the construction of now wai ships, com prising four line-of-battle sbips, three cruisei s, and two torpedo-boat-destroy era. The formation of a trained reserve foroe will be oommeoced. At present there are 108 veßßela of all classes in coum of construction. Mr Chamberlain, Beoretary of State for the ' Colonies, stated, in reply tn a question, that the Government was unaware of tbe existence of slavery in the New Hebrides, but when it was proved the Government would take immediate action toward? suppressing the practice.
