GLEANERS' UNION.
Thb mcc ing of the Gleanera" Union was held last night ia the Shelbourne stroet Schoolroom. Tbe Rev J P. Kempthorne presided and opened with prayer, the Rev J. de B. Galway reading the portion of Scripture, lhe Yen. Archdeacon Wright. ' the District Seoretaiy for the Melaneaian ; Mis'ioD, gave a leoture on the work of that mission, illustrated with a large number of 1 good lantern viess. The Archdeacn ex--1 plained the piotures, and gave a great deal of interesting information about the history 1 of the mission and the various events coanee'ed therewith. The piotures Bhown con- ' eisted of portraits of ths leading men connected with the missioo, European and ■ native. The now familiar mission steamer, : Southern Croas, Captain Bonguard and orew, , and views of various islands and tbeir . inhabitants of the Banks, Torres, Nsw Hebrides, and Santa Cruz group. The lantern - used was tbe Arohdeaoon's, and was manipl ulated very effioisntly by MaEtsr Wright. i
