ANCIENT ORDER OF DRUIDS.

The fourth Lodge of the above Order in J tbe Nelson District was opened with great ■ succesi at Collingwood on (Saturday Sept. 11, 1. The representatives of the Grand Lodge and ' officers of the Maitai Lodge, including P.A 'a ' Bro. J, Scott, J. Simpson, H. Oakley, J.P.A. ' Bro. Eowell, V.A. Bro. Haggctt, P. Sec. Bvo. Thomson, and Bros. Dr. Roberts and T. A. ' Askew, arrived in Collingwood ly the e.s. ] Lady Batkly about 12 o'clock, after a good passage, and, with tbe assistance of some of ' tbo intending members of tne new Lodge, made all neces -ary arrangements. At 7 p.m., everything being in readines?, ancl the Pubic BaU engaged, the ceremony of opening the Lodge was proceeded witb, when 31 candidates were initiated, P.A. bro J. Scott aoting as installing officer, Bro. Howell as J.P.A., P.A. Bro. Simpson as A.D., Bro. Haggitt as V.A., Bro, Thomson Secretary, P.A. Bro Oakley Guardian, and Bros Dr .Roberts and Askew as Bards, The Charter baying been read, tbe Collingwood Lodge was declared duly constituted, and the following officers were duly elected and installed f r the first term :-A.D., Bro Dew ; V.A., Bro L. Sutton ; Sec etary, Bro Humphrey ; Treasurer, Bro G. Hunter ; 1.G., Bro Bridger ; 0.G., 8.0 D. Brown ; A.B 's Bros H. McKenna and H. Williams ; V.A.B.'s, Bros Dutton and A. Walker ; Minute Secretary, Bro E. Strange. The office of Trustees was left open until the next meeting, to be held on Thursday, the 12th inst A letter was read from tin officers and members of the Takilc i L dge, No. 315, conveying fraternal g eet 'iig-j to the Collingwood Lodge, acd also a telegram from the Distiiot President apologising for his absence and offering congratala'ione on the opening of the Lodga. At the termination of the businoss a smoke conoert was held, and a mosc (leaßant time waß spent, songs and reoitatione being contributed by Bros Dew, Simpson, Hawthorne, Bowell, and others, Bro Williams presiding at the piato with great taste and ability. H arty votes of thanks were tendered to tbe representatives of the Grand Loige and visiting brethren by the Collingwood brethren for the large amount of assistance and information furnished them, to wbioh the visiting brethren responded by wishing the new Lodge every success and prosperi;y.
