NAVAL ARTILLERY'S SOCIAL AND DANCE.

The social ar.d danoe given under the auspioes of the N.nals tock plaoe at the Provinciil Hall on Sept. 4th and was a nust pronounced suocrss, ckse np^n tnree hundred persons being preeent. The ball was decorated witb ile usual exoellent taste, presenting a bright and animated scene, while the floor was in capital order for dancing. The mueio supplied by Mr Marlin'a String Band gave tbe utmost satisfaction. During the evening a number of v.cjl items were contrUn.ted by Leading Seaman A. Johnson, Seamen B Joht son, Hobbs, Leaver, and Bethwaite, whilst some really good step danoiog was performed by Seamen. Harford and Liley, both of whom were recalled. Dmiog the evening Captain t-impeon io a neat speech expressed the thanks of the Ctrpß for tha large atlcEdance. The cutlass drill under Capt. Himpaon w^s gone through by a squad of eight men with considerable merit, and a reoall was demanded. The proceedings olosed at ao early hour thiß morning, all present, aud particularly those who indulged in the 'poetry of motion," having thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The sooial was voted the best one ever held Toy \Jie Company. A number ol the members of the other Corps were present. Owing to the unprecedented large attendance the Etook of excellent refreshments provided proved hardly sufficient.
