Thb popular entertainment given by a number of Band of Hope juveni e-i at tbe Baptist Churoh on Sept. 12, was a deoided success bo far us the excellence cf the programme and tbe effoits of tbe performers were oona; mcd. Mr Heaton Barker presided and in doing bo thanked the members of other Banda of Hope who had kindly come to their aesiatance on tbat occasion. Pettit and A. Webb, and the same oan be Baid of the recitations cont.ibuted by Misses E. Kershaw, E. Chittenden, M. Sussex, and a dialogae in which five girla and two boj s took part. MiBS N. Slatttr's two solos were much eDJoyed, and little Mi?s Shone sang capitally " .he Wreok of the Lifeboat." Tbe instrumental masio, wbioh inoluded a violin solo by Master B. Child ani two duetts by Miss and Master Shone (violin and piccolo) was veiy good, particularly the piece " He Wipes the Tear from every Bye," wbioh was played by tbe latter. Mi-s Dee aoted as acjompanyist. The Binging of tbe National Anthem brought the enjoyable entertainment to a oloae. By request, tbe entertainment will be repeated on Tuesday evening next, wben the charges wili be sixpenoe and threepence. The building should then be orowded, for tho youthful performers are worth hearing and deserve encouragement.
