FooTBALti. — We unders'and that a majority of the Committee ol Management of the Rugby Unioa has decided that the protest enteieti by the Unioa Club against the College 11, who played Wix in their team, he j being still considered a member of the former j club, and not having been transferred to the latter team, must be sustained, and the match •.n consequence, which wag won by the College, must ke forfeited to their opponents. A few weeks back Wix became a student at the College, apd according to the rule of the school a pupil on joining the College at once becomeß separated from other club connec- 1 ticns, and throws in his lot with his new associates on all ma ters. With this prinoipal in view Wix waa played by the College team agaicst the Rival Ciub. The latter club won, and subsequently the College Ciub appealed to the Union for the transfer of Wix on the grounds stated above. The Committee, however, decided that as Wix had played on several occasions with the Union Ciub, whioh he first joined, they could not agree to a transfer, deeming that as the Unions bad but two matches- to play he must continue with them until they were finished. Thia decision waa subject to a proviso that the Unions were prepared to play Wix, if not he was to ba allowed to play with the Coliege. Tbe Unions played Wix against the Rival Club on Saturday week, with the Committee's permission, and won tbe match, and selected him to play against tha College on Wednesday. He, however, played for the latter, which occasioned much surprise in face of tbe Committee's decision, which the College delega'e was aware of. Kence the pro;e3t.— Mr E. S. Cresswell has been appoited to referee in the match to-morrow, Pirates v. College. Magistrates Court. -The bitting of the Magistrates Caurt will be held et the Police Station this morning owing to the Court Eoom having been used as a supper-roem Ihso night.
