ENCOUNTER WITH BANDITS.
Pabib, May 27. Particulars have been received of brisk fighting between the French and a cdmpatiy of bandits on the front'er of Frenoh Guiana ani Brazil. It appears tbat Lunar, the captain of a oompany of Frenoh muiaee, de-m-mde-J, under a flag of truoe, the release of Frenobmen who had been taken prisoners by the bandits. While negotiations were in progress tbe bandit chief shot Lunar dead, and his followers simultaneously fired on the marine?. Severe fighting ensued, la.tirg for two hours, and ended in. the complete defeat of tha out'awd. Tbe Frenohmen had five marines k'lled and twenty wounded, while the bi.n 1 t_ lost sixty of iheir number, besides ! having a large number wounded. The | Frenobmen afterwards burned their villages.
