CREDIT FONCIER SYSTEM.
Mexboubne, May 24. Before the Bankiag Commission, Mr David Finlayson, General Manager of the Union Back of Australia, in his evidence, considered the credit foncier system with proper safeguards a good idea, but great oare would have to be taken to see that valuations were not made too high. It gave no more absolutBafety tfcan the pressnk system though those desirous ti borrow money aod having good security to offer could get money as cheaply as the Government could offer under the new system. Orood security, be siid, was as essential for the credit foncier as for private | eoterprise.
